Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs)

Orders that are currently active in West Berkshire

West Berkshire Council is allowed to gate any footpath that is believed to be leading to high levels and/or persistent levels of crime. These PSPOs (previously known as Gating Orders) have been created after requests from residents concerned with alleys or footpaths being used for crime or for aiding criminals movements.

Gating Orders are no longer applied for under Section 129A of the Highways Act 1980. They are now dealt with under the Anti-Social Behaviour Order, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and would be applied for as a PSPO.
